Our Members

IAALD is a membership organisation. Our members are individuals and organisations specialising in or interested in agricultural information. As ‘agricultural information specialists', we are professionally involved in creating, capturing, accessing, or disseminating information and knowledge concerning agriculture and rural development. IAALD members are drawn from research and development institutes, international agencies, universities and colleges, government departments, information providers, non-governmental organisations and the private sector.

The Association is governed by an Executive Committee elected from the membership for a 5 year term. The ExCo also has representatives appointed by chapters and other associations with whom we work closely. We have three main classes of membership - personal, student, and institutional (more information and application forms are here). We currently have around 400 members in more than 80 countries.

Some of the tangible and less tangible benefits that attract people to join IAALD are:

  • Preferential and discounted member rates for IAALD sponsored events, educational programmes and other activities;
  • Subscription to the Association's journal;
  • Enrolment in the Association's member-only listserver;
  • Voting rights regarding the running of the Association;
  • Opportunities to participate in the Association's innovative projects and educational activities;
  • Access to global expertise networks and mentoring possibilities;
  • Heightened visibility of individual and institutional activities across the profession;
  • High quality networking, learning, and leadership development opportunities;
  • Professional current awareness and alerting services on agricultural information, communication and ICTs;
  • Professional development by IAALD members and partners leading to professional recognition and eventual certification;
  • Self motivation and self satisfaction through international service to one's profession;
  • Extended networks of professional contacts;
  • Opportunity to publish in a professional journal;
  • Meeting like-minded people and developing friendships around the world.
